Idris Elba Doesn’t Care About The Dark Tower Reviews
In today’s media, one of the harshest critics out there are…well…critics. It’s their job to assess a movie, TV show, video game, or even books and comics to see whether they’re “good” or not. And while everyone is entitled to their opinion, certain professional reviews are held up more than others, and they can directly influence how well a show or movie or game does. This especially goes for media that are adaptations of beloved stories, such as The Dark Tower.
This Stephen King series had been in development for a very long time, and this year it finally released in theaters, but to very negative response and very poor earnings. Yet, in an interview with Mashable, Elba noted that he’s not fazed by what they said, as they weren’t the ones making the film:
“Ultimately, everyone has an opinion and that’s okay,” the actor said. “I’d imagine that a film like TheDark Tower — if you know anything about the literature — it’s a very hard book to digest, and it’s definitely a hard book to adapt. Until one of the reviewers that had something to say adapts it and does a great job, well I don’t want to hear what they have to say.”
That’s actually kind of fair when you think about it, and it’s good to hear that he’s not taking the hit too hard, as sometimes bad reviews and outings at the box office have bad affects on those involved. But not Elba!
