Jon Bernthal Fine With Just Being The Punisher
One of the things that the Marvel Cinematic Universe emphasizes is that eventually, everyone comes together. That’s been proven via the Avengers films, and even Captain America: Civil War. There are exceptions though. Agents of Shield is one, but that honestly makes sense that they’re out of the loop given events in the films. However, the other exceptions are the Marvel/Netflix characters: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the Punisher. All of them are very capable, and easily match up to some of the current Avengers. So, why not bring them into the fold?
Jon Bernthal was asked this question during ACE Comic-Con, and he responded thusly:
“For me, it’s not about — I have no aspirations or desire to do anything besides what I’m doing. I love this character, I believe in him, he’s in my bones, I feel honored to play him, and I want to keep playing him,” Bernthal explained. “So in all honesty, there’s no part of me that says, ‘Oh, I hope I’m in the movies.’ It’s whatever it’ll be. ”
It’s understandable that he feels that way. The Punisher has been a fan-favorite since his arrival on Daredevil Season 02, and his own series got renewed less than a month after its release. So, I think he’s doing well.
