Jurassic World Crushes Opening Day Record For June, On Track For Major Opening Weekend
It’s fascinating when you see the box office results and wonder “how much did they make on each day?” Because your instincts will usually jump to “well Saturday and Sunday were the biggest because they’re a part of the weekend!” But in some cases that’s not true. Avengers: Age of Ultron had that happen actually, and it might just be the case with Jurassic World. No, I’m not saying that it won’t do good on Saturday and Sunday, I’m just saying that if it’s Friday haul was any indication, it’s going to be hard to match.
It’s being reported via ComingSoon that Jurassic World made an astonishing $83 million at the box office on Friday alone, which was it’s true opening day. To put that in perspective, the only two movies that’ve ever done better on a single opening day is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with $91.1 million, and the recent Avengers: Age of Ultron with $84.4 million.
It was already guessed that Jurassic World would do well, possibly even getting over $100 million at the box office. However, positive reviews and word of mouth might just be pushing more and more people into the theaters, and thus raising the total. How how will it reach? We’ll find out soon.
