Kevin Feige Says Marvel Movies and Shows Will Cross Over Eventually
One of the reasons that Marvel is so successful in the movie and TV worlds is that they have an interconnected universe. Shows like Agents of SHIELD and the Netflix shows are all a part of he Marvel Cinematic universe. Sometimes there are references to these connections. However, other times, the connections aren’t strong at all. Seasons one and two of SHIELD were infamous for being the “cleanup” of sorts to the Avengers . And then, when the series developed its own style, many wondered how the Avengers weren’t called in in some capacity.
It was the sam case for the Netflix shows, which are all set in New York, one of the homes of the Avengers. There was even a rumor that the Defenders would fight alongside the Avengers in Infinity War, but that since has been debunked. So, will the movies and TV shows ever crossover? According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, they will, if that’s to be believed. Kevin Feige impressed that a future crossover is bound to happen at some point in some capacity.
“Not necessarily,” he told io9.com. “The future’s a long time. So, the truth is, I don’t really know, but there are a lot of TV shows being made, and hopefully we’ll continue to make a lot of movies. At some point, there’s going to be a crossover. Crossover, repetition, or something.”
It’s not much of a definitive answer. Whether it actually happens in the future remains to be seen. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now in theaters. Agents of SHIELD is currently airing on ABC, and Inhumans is set to debut in IMAX theaters later this fall ahead of its debut on ABC. Also, Marvel’s The Defenders will premiere on Netflix later this August.
