Kingdom Hearts III Might Make its Way To The Nintendo Switch
While Kingdom Hearts III is currently only in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the series director Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that a later port to the Switch is definitely possible. Speaking with IGN, the developer explained how he would consider bringing the game to other platforms once they had finished development on the current versions.
In a brief statement he said:
“The Nintendo Switch is definitely a very interesting piece of hardware, but if we lightly say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll be on the Nintendo Switch,’ I’m sure people will come back and say, ‘But what about the PS4 and Xbox One? We want them out first. Don’t focus on other platforms.’ So for now, we want to focus on what platforms we’ve already announced we’re going to be releasing Kingdom Hearts III on. And so after, perhaps, maybe we can start thinking about other possibilities.”
Nomura also left open the possibility that the HD remake collections could come to Xbox One alongside Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue, which are currently only set to release for the PlayStation 4. A port will likely depend on demand and whether there is enough interest in seeing the game come to other platforms.
