Wonder Woman is the unequivocal shining star of the DC Comics Film Universe…so far. And naturally, people are excited for Wonder Woman 2, which will arrive November 1st of next year. There’s already been a lot of speculation as to what the film will and won’t be, including the villainess who might be coming in. But now, director Patty Jenkins has revealed that Cheetah will indeed be in the film, and she’ll be portrayed by Kristen Wiig.
Wiig has been rumored for the role for a while now, so to get confirmation is very welcome, and from Patty Jenkins herself no less! On a comics level, Cheetah is one of Wonder Woman’s most recognizable villains, and has been used in many animated series in the past because of that. Seeing her in live-action will be a first (although she was teased on an episode of Flash), so it’ll be interesting to see how she’s portrayed. Here’s hoping it won’t be CGI.
Here’s the full tweet from Patty Jenkins.
So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot pic.twitter.com/Gn0jICiIAH
