Layton’s Mystery Journey Now On Mobile — First Case Free
Last fall the latest Professor Layton game didn’t star Professor Layton at all — his daughter Katrielle was handed the top hat to continue the series in Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy. As the Layton series is a handheld exclusive, the game was released on 3DS. But now it’s making the leap to mobile platforms for the first time: the same game has been optimized for iOS and Android and is available now.
When you publish a game on mobile, you’re competing with millions of free-to-play games….it’s a rough market to charge an entry fee in. Layton’s Mystery Journey has adapted to that market by offering the first case in the game free of charge.
Case 1 Summary: “The Hand That Feeds”
One of the hands of Big Ben – said to be a symbol of London – has been stolen! A police officer patrolling the area has confirmed that the clock hand was intact as of around 11:50 p.m. but was discovered missing at 6:00 a.m. the next morning. Ambassador Fouxdufàfà will visit London from a neighboring country the following day and is scheduled to receive a pendant that resembles the clock as proof of goodwill. If Big Ben is not in its complete state at that time, it will affect the country’s good name. The missing clock hand must be recovered before the press conference begins! Scotland Yard Inspector Hastings has requested that Katrielle Layton investigate the incident.
The rest of the game has been divided into four DLC packs: Case Collection 1 includes cases 2 – 4, Case Collection 2 includes cases 5 – 8, and Case Collection 3 includes cases 9 – 12. You also have the option of buying all the other cases at once.
If you still haven’t purchased this game for 3DS, you now have the opportunity to download the first case of the mobile version, decide if you like it, and spring for the 3DS version if you do. Whatever works!
