Logan: Trailer Arrives for Wolverine Sequel
The third Wolverine marks the final time Hugh Jackman steps into the role of the iconic Marvel hero. 20th Century Fox has released the first trailer today for the upcoming Wolverine sequel, Logan, which is due out next year. You can check out the new video, offering the first real look at footage in the film, in the player below.
It definitely appears that the comic story Old Man Logan was the main inspiration for this film. It looks to be set in a bit of a dystopic, post-apocalyptic future. Jackman’s Logan aka Wolverine looks older and more grizzled than ever. Based on Logan’s (Hugh Jackman) voice-over, most of the mutants are gone. It appears that Logan and Professor Charles Xavier (a returning Patrick Stewart) are among the only mutants left. However, it also appears to involve the Reavers story, with a young X-23 replacing Jubilee’s role in that X-Men story.
There’s a little bit of an old-fashioned western in there, but also a little bit of The Book of Eli with Denzel Washington as well. It looks like Logan will be trying to redeem himself by helping X-23. It looks like the Reavers will be cyborgs similar to the comics as well.
Logan arrives in theaters on March 3, 2017. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Dafne Keen. It’s directed by James Mangold.
