Mark Hamill Refutes Rumors Of Him Being Forced To Say Things About Last Jedi
Star Wars: The Last Jedi has proven to be a very divisive film. Some people call it the “best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back”, others call it a film “filled with plot holes and terrible twists”. Everyone has an opinion on it it seems, including some of the actors. Mark Hamill, for instance, noted that after talking with director Rian Johnson about how Luke Skywalker was going to be portrayed in the film, he noted that “this isn’t my Luke Skywalker.”
Later on though, Hamill noted that just because he didn’t like the interpretation doesn’t mean that he didn’t like the movie, the director, or his role. However, some fans were unconvinced, and thought that Disney/Lucasfilm forced him to spin the conversation so that more anger couldn’t be flung at the film. Well, Hamill took to Twitter to debunk this rumor:
“I’m really enjoying the conversations about #TheLastJedi both Pro AND Con. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion-but let me make one thing perfectly clear: Neither @Disney or #Lucasfilm has ever complained or told me what to say-EVER.”
We honestly should take Mark Hamill’s advice to heart. After all, everyone is entitled to their opinion, as well as sharing it. And whether you liked Last Jedi or not, you should respect what other people feel about it, even if it conflicts with your views.
