Marvel Comics Announces New Spider-Man/Deadpool Team-Up Series
Marvel Comics officially announced this week that two of the company’s mainstay and most popular characters would be teaming up for their own ongoing series later this year in Spider-Man/Deadpool. The upcoming series will feature Peter Parker’s Spider-Man and Wade Wilson’s Deadpool to chronicle their ongoing adventures. The new series will feature the superstar creative team of writer Joe Kelly and artist Ed McGuinness.
The problem? While Deadpool loves Spider-Man, Spider-Man cannot stand and hates Deadpool. At least that makes them a perfect match or odd couple, of sorts. Also, while Miles Morales’ version of Spider-Man has joined the new Marvel Universe, the series will follow Peter Parker as Spider-Man, the original Spider-Man, teaming up with Deadpool. Speaking on the new series, scribe Kelly stated, “I will say that there is an assassination involved, a case of misplaced trust and their names are on the book so they sort of have to show up.” He added, “Seriously, I’m having a blast writing the banter. It’s your favorite buddy-cop movie on steroids if it was written by a swill-minded teenager.”
Spider-Man/Deadpool debuts with issue No. 1 later this fall. You can check out McGuinness’ cover artwork for the first issue below.
