Marvel Has Plans For More Video Games
It might not look it, but the video game market in regards to comic properties is actually pretty robust. The Arkham games set the tone a few years ago, both Marvel and DC Comics have MMORPGs of their universes, both have mobile titles, Injustice 2 came out a month or so ago, and many are anticipating the Spider-Man game made by Insomniac. Add to that, Square Enix is making an Avengers title! That’s quite a lot.
However, Gamespot interviewed Marvel Games vice president and executive producer Mike Jones, who noted that they have more games in mind that they want to do.
“We absolutely have a roadmap,” he explained. “We have some incredible mobile, console, and VR games planned that I can’t announce or talk about today. We are curating our portfolio and trying to find the best match for character, partner, genre, platform and trying to not just see who wants a license to make a game. We’re actually very active in planning what are the right experiences for the right franchises for the right platforms, as well as finding the right partners who can provide the best of that.”
He also noted that he’s open to many characters or IP’s being put into those games. Including maybe the Defenders.
