Michael B. Jordan Reflects on Learning Experience of Fantastic Four
The Bill Simmons Podcast recently interviewed actor and star of Creed and Fantastic Four, Michael B. Jordan. Creed, which stars Jordan in the Rocky franchise spinoff, is getting a lot of positive feedback right now. The film is even receiving some Oscar buzz. In addition, Creed also appears to be performing well at the box office so far. For Jordan, it’s a nice recovery after the low depths of the Fantastic Four franchise reboot from last August, which was both a critical and financial flop. Talking to Bill Simmons, Jordan discussed what he took away from the learning experience of working on Fantastic Four.
Despite the poor reception of Fantastic Four, Jordan revealed that the experience of putting on a superhero costume is something he would definitely repeat if given the opportunity, saying, “Which is one that you know I would gladly do again, it was a, as me being a comic book fan, and yeah, for that, it was just like a dream come true being able to play that character.”
Regarding to how he came out of the film looking OK, Jordan added, “I got out of there pretty clean, you know, it’s one of those things where it was a lesson for me that really made me realize that things aren’t in your control.” Speaking on the lesson he took away from the film, he stated: “You can get up everyday and be like ‘I’m going to give 110% to this one thing’ or to anything and it still not turn out how people want it or how you expected it to and it doesn’t mean that you’re a failure or it doesn’t mean that you didn’t do a great job, it just means that as a whole, as a project, there are so many other pieces that are moving that have nothing to do with you that determine the outcome of a film, so that was kinda one of those things that I had to come to terms with.”
So it seems Jordan is not completely against the idea of playing a comic book superhero again, though it’s highly unlikely it will be Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan, is in theaters now. The maligned Fantastic Four reboot, also starring Jordan, is scheduled for a Blu-ray/DVD release on December 15.
