New Sonic The Hedgehog Game Coming In 2017
Sega have revealed that they are set to release a brand new Sonic game next year. The 2017 release is being developed by developer Sonic Team, with Takashi Iizuka telling the crowd at a 25th anniversary event in Tokyo that the all-new game is already in development.
Unfortunately, he didn’t go into any other details about the upcoming title. Therefore it isn’t clear what platforms it will be available for or what characters it will feature in the campaign.
The transition to 3D hasn’t been easy for Sonic. With a few notable exceptions, the vast majority of games in the franchise that have released in the past 15 years have been panned by critics and fans alike. This is something that Sega are aware of however. Last year, they acknowledged that Sonic games had not been up to scratch for some time and that they were working hard to ensure they learnt from their mistakes. One of the steps they were taking to help improve the quality of future titles was to spend more time on them rather than rushing them to market.
