New Star Wars Battlefront Trailer and Release Date Announced
EA and DICE have released the first official trailer for Star Wars Battlefront following a brief teaser earlier in the year, revealing some of the weapons, vehicles and environments that players will experience when they get their hands on the game. The Star Wars Celebration event, which saw the release of the first official trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, also saw the publisher announce that the game will be releasing for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 17.
The trailer shows a frantic battle occurring on the forest moon of Endor, with the Rebels being attacked by a large force of Stormtroopers. The video continues with vehicles including an AT-ST and an AT-AT, before Y-Wings sweep into view. It ends with the ominous figure of Darth Vader coming into focus before it quickly shows a number of other locations such as Hoth.
As well as the trailer, DICE also revealed some further information about the game. Although Star Wars Battlefront is being developed as multiplayer focused title, it will still see some significant content that can be played offline. This will come in the form of Missions that will see players tackling memorable moments from the franchise, which can also be completed in co-op online.
According to the developers, new techniques have been used to ensure that the accuracy of all the models included in the game are as accurate as possible. The technology, known as Photogrammetry, recreates the actual models from the films.
Star Wars Battlefront will also allow players to customize their experience. This will include being able to progress their character with new weapons and gear that can be unlocked, while they will also be able to switch between third and first-person on the fly.
