New Test Footage From Psychonauts 2
Psychonauts 2 is still happening. The dream sequel to the cult classic platformer was announced last year, but there has been only silence from the studio behind it, Double Fine. Today brought confirmation that yes, it’s still a thing, and work-in-progress footage was produced to prove it (which is more than you can say for Beyond Good and Evil 2).
Project lead Zak McClendon and Double Fine founder Tim Schafer offer commentary in this video of a prototype area for Raz to bounce around in. They tell us this is not the finalized area and it may change between now and release time. A little spoiler warning: they do discuss some new story elements, so if that’s what you’d like to avoid you might want to watch with the sound off. But we expect some of the story will inevitably be revealed in the trailers anyway.
More proof that Psychonauts 2 is real: it has a publisher! Double Fine has worked out a deal with Starbreeze, publishers of the Payday series, to put the game out on Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. Barring any delays, look for it sometime in 2018.

Now that is promising. I just hope it doesn't go the way of the Brutal Legend 2: with the publisher pulling out (Thanks so much, EA). I hope they're going to re-release the original Psychonauts game with it though, because many gamers won't have played it.
