Nintendo Fully Accepts Negative Reaction To Federation Force
One of the biggest surprises to come out of E3 was the reveal that Nintendo was making a spinoff of Metroid Prime called Federation Force. It would have certain elements of Metroid, yet not feature Samus Aran (the main character of the series). Fans did not like this, at all. From almost the moment it was announced, Nintendo fanboys and fangirls raged about how Nintendo was trolling them essentially by giving the a “Metroid” game without it being a Metroid game.
Weeks have now passed since the announcement, and Nintendo is not only fully aware of the negative response, they fully accept it. Speaking with Mashable, Reggie Fils-Aime said:
“What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren’t expecting. The reaction has been negative. There’s no sugar coating it.”
However, Fils-Aime remains adamant that if gamers get their hands on Federation Force, their tune may change. He continued:
“This is an example where fans who aren’t able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage. Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they’ve come across really pleased. My ask is that fans trust us. We believe that in order to propel the franchises forward, we have to be the ones to constantly challenge the paradigms, challenge the conventional wisdom, challenge what we thought was the essence of the particular franchise, and a particular form of gameplay.”
Metroid Prime: Federation Force is due out in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS.
