Nintendo’s E3 Schedule Revealed
Nintendo was unexpectedly the first of the Big Three game companies to reveal their full schedule for this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. It doesn’t give specifics, but the vague outline sounds promising.
For one thing, the festivities will begin one day early! E3 doesn’t commence until June 12, but on June 11, Nintendo will be hosting the Splatoon 2 World Championship. Opening rounds will begin at 3:30 PM Pacific / 6:30 PM Eastern on Nintendo’s official feed. The finals will broadcast the next day, but not before….
…the most anticipated Nintendo Direct of the year at 9 AM! A lot of info regarding Switch Smash is expected, and it’s the only game they’re confirming at the moment. Some people are worrying this is literally the only game they’ll show (because there’s precedent for this), but nobody panic….the outline specifically mentions “Nintendo Switch titles for 2018,” not just Smash. I’m fairly confident we will get some huge announcements.
As they did last year, any filler time between tournaments or special announcements will be taken up by Nintendo’s Live Treehouse at the E3 show floor. New games are sometimes given surprise reveals during the Treehouse instead of the presentation, so you’ll want to keep it on.
Finally, the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 will begin right after the Splatoon 2 World Championship ends. Presumably they will be playing the new game, which should be interesting as it’ll be the first time anyone has really played it, professional or otherwise. It sounds like a good year for Nintendo, and we’ll be giving you further details as they come out.
