Netflix is about to get started on the next wave of their Marvel shows. Jessica Jones Season 02 debuts tomorrow. Luke Cage Season 02 is set to arrive June 22nd, Daredevil Season 03 is in production right now, Iron Fist Season 02 is soon to follow, and Punisher will film after that. If you’ve lost count, that’s five different Netflix/Marvel shows, but there’s one more that people are interested in, Defenders. Defenders was the culmination of the first four shows (Punisher came after) and showed the heroes teaming up to save New York.

But, the season wasn’t well received, and its left many wondering if the show would return for a second season. Jessica Jones herself, Krysten Ritter, doesn’t think it will:

“Well, I think Jessica was pretty well received. People were excited to see her again, so that made us happy because Jessica [Jones] is the next up,” Ritter told Vulture. “Y’know, I had a great time doing The Defenders and honestly, it was such a good experience that I would even do it again. I don’t think we are doing it again.”

She went on:

“It was never intentioned to do it again, but, you know, if I was given another opportunity, I would,” she said. “My heart is with my show because of the subject matter and because of the great drama that we get to do and the personal issues that we explore. For me, that is more the type of content that I enjoy as a viewer and as a performer. My heart is in Jessica Jones, but I did have a great time doing The Defenders with the guys. We had a good time. It is what it is.”

We find it hard to believe that Defenders was only intended to be done once, especially given the prominence of the group in the Marvel Comics Universe. Plus, if the shows are still well received, and there’s money to be made, why not do it?
