NYCC: Agents Of Shield Panel Breakdown
At New York Comic Con, the cast and crew of Marvel’s Agents of Shield took to the stage to talk about their fourth season. One that’s already gotten heated with the arrival of Robbie Reyes, aka Ghost Rider. But as star Clark Gregg revealed, he wasn’t so sure about the character coming in at first:
“When I heard Ghost Rider was coming to the show, I’m going to be honest, I saw the movies,” he noted with a grin
The original Ghost Rider was Johnny Blaze, who was portrayed by Nicholas Cage in two films. Despite making decent money, fan and critic reaction was mixed to say the least. No doubt this was part of the reason they went for the Robbie Reyes version of the character. Also though, Greg noted that the other thing was that Ghost Rider is more supernatural than many of the characters they’ve met so far:
“Our show is based on science, some of the coolest characters are Fitz and Simmons — and when they kiss a nerdy angel gets its wings — and Skye. We have science people,” Gregg said. “We try to ground the crazy stuff that happens in science. And then we saw the spectacular bandanna of destiny that Gabe has,” in reference to the garb Luna had to wear so that his head could be converted to CGI, “We already saw the incredibly charismatic performance [from Luna], but not with special effects. When I saw it, I was stoked.”
Most interesting though, when a fan asked about whether the Shield team would look into the events of the Marvel Netflix series, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said: “Stay tuned.”
