Our First, Brief Look At Matt Groening’s Disenchantment
Last year Matt Groening announced he was finally producing a new animated series, called Disenchanted, this time for Netflix. At the time, we knew nothing. Less then two months out from release, we still knew nothing. Until today, when the first official trailer was released. Now we know…a little more than nothing. Seriously, there isn’t much to chew on here.
The trailer consists of an overhead shot of a medieval town, followed by one brief clip that’s plot-related and not a joke. Netflix continues to hold their cards very close to the chest when it comes to Disenchantment. Maybe the series synopsis can give us a few more hints as to what we’re getting….
From the mind of Matt Groening, comes the 10-episode adult animated comedy fantasy series, Disenchantment, launching on Netflix, August 17, 2018. In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.
It sounds great, so why won’t they let us see any of it?
Disenchanted stars Abbi Jacobson as Bean, Nat Faxon as Elfo and Eric Andre as Luci. Supporting cast includes the heavy hitters from Futurama and The Simpsons: John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. The show launches August 17 with a 10-episode first season, and a second on the way.
