Pokémon Go Banned in Iran
It seems not everyone in the world likes or wants to catch Pokemon. Well, there is one country in the world that cannot enjoy a popular mobile app. According to a report by Digital Spy, Pokémon Go has been banned in another country due to “security concerns.” The popular augmented reality mobile app was banned by the High Council of Virtual Spaces out of “security concerns.”
Not much other information was reported besides that reasoning. Other computer platforms that are also banned in Iraq include YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Whether Iran’s concerns or valid or not, in the past, the developer of the app, Niantic Labs, has come out and denied that the app can access user e-mails. Filmmaker Oliver Stone has also been a critical opponent of the mobile game. At Comic-Con, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had a good joke about Pokemon Go.
In regards to some other changes that were recently made to the app that caused controversy, Niantic Labs blocked third-party tracking apps for the game. In addition, Niantic blocked tracking with the app itself and made it harder to catch more common Pokémon creatures.
Pokémon Go is available now, outside of Iran, for iOS and Android devices.
