Police Warfare Kickstarter to make fictional fan game a reality
What began as a fan-made trailer for a fictional entry to the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise has since become a Kickstarter project created by industry professionals. You can find the original fan-made pitch for ‘Police Warfare’ after the break.
‘Police Warfare’ promises to be part ‘Call of Duty’ and part ‘Payday: The Heist’. It promises the scope of ‘Battlefield 3’ against a backdrop of classic cops and robbers, all built in a small, high quality game for digital download.
At the moment it’s only being developed for the PC, but if you really want a console port, you can always back the game at Kickstarter. They want at least $325,000 and you have until May 18th to make your pledge.

While I love the idea of playing something other than Modern Battlefield of Honor: Desert Combat 3, a few funny things stand out at me. For instance, that you’ll get a special Kickstarter only secret class for each team if you donate $100. Couldn’t care less if it’s a tiny indie game or a massive AAA Project, exclusive in-game advantages should never be available for a higher price point. Also, being able to buy an “Associate Producer” credit for 5k is ridiculous in my opinion. Very amateurish.
But you know, I do hope it turns out well.

Oh I’m totally against exclusive content – I was one of the many Shadowrun Returns backers who didn’t want backer-only exclusive content (even though it would have come at no extra charge).
You always get stuff like that at the more expensive end of the pledges at Kickstarter – it’s like gaining funding for an indie film, you entice big bidders by making them feel as if they’ve had some major impact on the production (giving them an important sounding title in the credits) but really they’ve just given you a whole lotta money.
