PS3 version of TMNT: Out of the Shadows delayed
Red Fly Studio has announced that the PlayStation 3 version of downloadable brawler Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will no longer be available for purchase on September 24th.
According to a statement published on the game’s official Facebook page 14 hours ago (at time of writing), the decision to postpone the release was motivated by a desire to perfect the build. The full post reads:
“To our PlayStation community,
With our attention firmly focused on the upcoming launch of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows on the PlayStation Network, it has become clear to us that the PSN version will take longer than we originally anticipated, and as such, the game will not be available on September 24. Everyone’s working hard to get TMNT:OOTS ready for PSN as soon as possible, and we’ll update you once we’ve locked in a new release date.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and your patience. You’ve already waited for the game, so we know this is disappointing news. Please take heart in the fact that this is time the developers will spend polishing the PSN build to the highest level of quality possible, and the final experience will be better for it.”
Although this news might be upsetting for some, I for one am pleased. I’ve been looking forward to this title for longer than I can recall, and it saddened me to read how many videogames critics were dissatisfied with the quality of the Xbox 360 build, which currently holds a dismal rating of 38% on review aggregation website Metacritic. If deferring the game’s PSN launch will buy Red Fly time to bring a more pleasing, polished experience to PS3, the developer has my full support. I want the best TMNT game possible, and if that means I have to wait a little longer for it, ce la vie.
