The Punisher Not Changed Due To Las Vegas Incident
Despite the desire to make money and press, there is always a line that many aren’t willing to cross in order to do it. For Marvel and Netflix, after the tragic events in Las Vegas, they decided to be respectful and cancel the panel that was scheduled at New York Comic Con (that took place just days after the shooting), and even delayed when the show was to be released. It will now arrive on Netflix on November 17th.
In an interview with Inverse, head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb noted why this was done:
“This was a decision that we made specifically because it was a week after a horrible, horrible incident,” he explained. “We made a very hard choice with Netflix, and our hearts still go out to the people of Las Vegas and the people around the world who still deal with that senseless violence.”
However, even though Marvel didn’t show off the show at NYCC, Loeb has promised that The Punisher was not edited or changed because of it:
“It hasn’t changed the television series, the show is not predominantly about gun violence, and in fact it shows you the problems that occur in that world.”
