Rare To Unveil New Project At E3?
Rare is one of those companies that fans like to rally around, if for no other reason than because of their history of making great games. From Killer Instinct, to the original Donkey Kong Country Series, Battletoads, and of course Banjo-Kazooie, they’re beloved by many.
That’s not to say they haven’t hit bumps in the road. Rare’s move to Microsoft met the developer with some hard times and key departures, but the studio held together and has made some good hits in recent years. Now, it seems that the latest big project from Rare is set to be unveiled at E3 this year.
This news stems from a Twitter conversation in which Rare’s Creative Director Simon Woodroffe chatted with a fan about Rare titles, and noted that:
“E3 will tell the world what Gregg Mayles new project is about.”
For the record, Gregg Mayles is a designer at Rare who just happened to work on the Donkey Kong Country franchise, Viva Pinata, and Banjo-Tooie over his gaming career.
Then, when Woodroffe was asked about whether the was a new franchise or a new chapter in an existing Rare IP, he replied with this:
“All I can give here is a quote from the man himself, ‘This is more fun than anything we’ve ever done.'”
Interesting, very interesting. Rare has been teasing something big for a while now. It appears we’ll be getting news on it next month at E3. We’ll be here when all the news breaks!
