Breaking Bad is one of the most beloved TV series of the last 10 years. And not so ironically, the show is celebrating its ten year anniversary. The show was dubbed a “masterpiece” in terms of story and character development. It was so good that it got a prequel series via “Better Call Saul”. What might not have known, was that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson directed three episodes of the series. Including the key Season 05 episode “Ozymandias.” In a chat with IGN, Johnson revealed how he got the job for that episode, and how he was shocked that he got to do it:

“It was kind of a last-minute thing, they shuffled something with the schedule. I forget exactly why, but I didn’t think I was gonna get to do another episode, and then at the last minute Moira’s slot opened up, and Vince said “you can pick who’s directing it,” and because we had had such a great experience on “Fly,” I got the call. So I was just thrilled when I got the call, and then I read the script, and I was like, “oh my God. Are you sure you want me to do this one? Do I really get to do this one, really?”

I think that the overall feeling for everyone involved with that episode was just, “let’s get it right. Let’s do this justice.” Because, as a culminating moment in the whole series, there’s so much riding on it in terms of how much Vince and the whole writing team had built into this massive arc. And then just as a piece of writing unto itself, Moira’s script was just so emotional and intense, I think everyone involved, we all just were like, “we have to focus, we’ve got to bring our A-game to this, we have to get this right.”
