Rise of the Tomb Raider: New Look at Stealth Gameplay
Hot off the heels of the recent GamesCom demo, Square Enix has released a new gameplay video for Rise of the Tomb Raider with some new gameplay footage. The new “Advancing Storm” stealth playthrough video is available in the player below.
The new video features developer commentary and offers a look at how Lara Croft can take a more stealth approach to levels with less enemy engagement. The new video shows an expanded combat system based around player choice. In the game, Lara Croft will have a wider spectrum of strategies that range from stealth to aggression. However, in this new video, the footage shows how players can take a totally non-lethal approach in dealing with enemies.
In the video, Croft has to navigate around a camp that looks like a veritable death trap. It is filled with heavily armed guards and vehicles. Croft has not much more than her compound bow and pistols. The video shows how Croft can distract guards to evade discovery, using her wits and athletic prowess. It will be interesting to see if the game will reward players depending on which route they take for their approach with the gameplay, be it stealth or a more aggressive approach with enemies.
Rise of the Tomb Raider arrives on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 13 as a timed platform exclusive. The game will be released on PlayStation 4 about a year later for a holiday 2016 release. The Windows PC release will be launched in early 2016.
