Ron Howard Now The Han Solo Movie Director
It’s been an interesting couple of days for the Star Wars standalone film starring Han Solo. The films original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were let go after disagreements over the tone of the film. But now, we already have a new director in place, and its legendary filmmaker Ron Howard.
Howard has directed numerous films to critical acclaim including Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and more. Lucasfilm was the first to make this official:
“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago,” said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. “With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie. Filming will resume the 10th of July.”
Then, this was later confirmed by Howard himself.
“I’m beyond grateful to add my voice to the Star Wars Universe after being a fan since 5/25/77,” Howard wrote on Twitter. “I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film.”
Though it’s never good to lose a director, especially when the filming is technically underway, it’s good to know that they got a worthy replacement so soon after the departure happened.

He directed Willow too. I liked Willow and Star Wars. I'm watching The Andy Griffith Show now. He was a little boy on Andy Griffith show. I liked him in Happy Days too. With him being the director it should be a good movie!

I think it will be a good and interesting movie with him as the director mainly because he has done other things with his life being a director and actor. I also think they could have gotten a better director but I think he will do fine. He is an interesting director in how he directs his movies so watching him do more will be fascinating to see. Also he will do good for Lucas Films in creating a movie that is pretty entertaining. Can't wait to watch when it comes out.

I think that decision was a big mistake. 😮
Seriously, I can't understand among many options available, he ended up being the chosen one. Ron Howard is a lousy director and most of his films are very bad. 🙁

I have seen a couple of movies that he directed. They are not that bad but there is always room for improvement. Quetin Tarantino had raised the director bar very high 🙂
