SDCC 2017: Black Adam WON’T Be In Shazam Film
Rumors have been circling that the upcoming Shazam film from DC Comics isn’t going to feature legendary adversary Black Adam, who is confirmed to be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. And now, via San Diego Comic Con, we got confirmation by DC Comic’s President and Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns.
“We haven’t announced any casting yet,” Johns said in an interview with Yahoo Movies. “But Dwayne isn’t going to be in this movie. He’s still doing Black Adam, but he won’t be in Shazam!”
This is curious for many reasons. As this would seem to indicate that the rumored Black Adam solo film is indeed happening, and what’s more interesting, it seems like Adam will have a different way of coming into the world. In the comics, Billy Batson was given the powers of the wizard Shazam to combat Black Adam specifically, and then other villains showed up. It appears the DCEU is not going to take that approach.
