SDCC 2017: Iron Fist Gets New Showrunner
It was confirmed yesterday at San Diego Comic Con that Iron Fist, the fourth series in the Marvel/Netflix collaboration would be getting a second season. This decision has already been met with a lot of dismay from fans, as many note that Iron Fist was the worst of the Netflix/Marvel shows. But now, we know that the second season will get a new showrunner in the form of Raven Metzner.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he was the writer of the Elektra film that happened back in 2005, as well as the fan-beloved Sleepy Hollow series.
“Raven’s love of all things Iron Fist and his extensive knowledge of martial arts films made him the perfect choice to continue telling the adventures of Danny Rand and Colleen Wing,” stated Executive VP of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb, “Season One and The Defenders are only the beginning of this fantastic action packed tale.”
No date has been attached, and the cast of the show wasn’t in the know of this when it was announced last night. So it’s possible it won’t start shooting until next year. Especially with Defenders, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage all coming before it.
