Solo Anthology Film Had More Reshot Than Intended
It’s easy to look at the Star Wars movie universe and think that everything is fine, after all, The Last Jedi just crossed $500 million dollars at the worldwide box office in less than a week. But, not everything is as smooth as it appears. The Last Jedi is facing some rather divisive critiques from fans, Star Wars Episode IX lost its director, and then brought back J.J. Abrams to finish it up, and the Han Solo anthology film had a lot of issues, and apparently still is depending on how you see things.
Originally, Chris Miller and Phil Lord of The Lego Movie fans was set to direct the film, but, Lucasfilm wasn’t happy with what they were making. So, they were let go, and legend Ron Howard was brought in to right the ship. And according to one of the stars on the film, Paul Bettany, the “righting” of the ship included a lot of reshoots.
“His staging ability is so fucking brilliant,” Bettany told Total Film. “I think he went in and he was like a laser, working out what needed to be done when he looked at the footage. And then, as things moved on, everybody felt so secure with him. And they gave him more. He reshot a lot more than was originally intended.”
Now, this doesn’t mean that the film is going to be bad, far from it, but it is interesting just how much of Solo is being redone, making us wonder if there’s going to be anything left of what Miller and Lord did when the film releases on May 25th.
