Splatoon 2 Gets All-New Mode
At the recent Nintendo Direct, the Big N made sure to shed some more light on the highly anticipated Splatoon 2, and they did so by unveiling an all-new mode called Salmon Run.
It’s basically the Splatoon version of Horde Mode, but with some fun twists. First off, you are facing off against Salmon-like enemies called “Chum”, which will attack in waves. When you kill them, you get special eggs as rewards. This is actually the true goal of the mode, but we’ll get to that.
As you would expect, there are much tougher enemies that come out in Salmon Run that require true teamwork to beat. And when you do beat them, you’ll get better eggs. The collection of eggs isn’t random for the record, as you’ll get them so you can get rewards that’re being kept secret for now. Another twist is that your Inklings will have special gear, ones that you can use to actually revive your teammates. Which means that this mode won’t just allow you to respawn like you do in Turf War, presumably, if your whole team dies, you’re done.
This is an exciting new mode, and it only gets more exciting with the addition of new Amiibo for the game, and the fact that Nintendo revealed it’s coming out on July 28th.
