Square Enix confirms Tomb Raider sequel on next gen consoles
In a post on the Square Enix blog, new CEO of Square Enix, Phil Rogers, has confirmed that they are indeed working on a sequel for Tomb Raider for the next gen consoles.
In his post, he went into details to reassure fans that they have not abandoned “triple-A console and PC games” and that they have re-orientated the firm’s leadership to focus on making better games. Rogers went on to mention the projects they are currently working on such as Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3, which made big headway at E3 this year as well as Thief 4 which will be released in 2014. He also slightly mentioned Tomb Raider and confirmed that they are indeed working on a sequel for it.
“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently!”
In the post, Rogers also promised to share a title release plan for Tomb Raider with fans once they have it ready.
It is unclear if Crystal Dynamics will be in charge of this project and no release date or specific platforms were mentioned.
