Square Releases Octahedron On Consoles And PC
Square-Enix is publishing Octahedron, a new indie game from developer Demimonde, on consoles and PC. The game is available starting today.
Octahedron is a platformer, but perhaps unlike any you’ve ever played. In a neon day-glo world, you must create the platforms by stepping in time to the beat of the soundtrack. Scores of enemies will be constantly chasing you, and the only way to evade them is to get into the groove.
“With a genre like the platformer, managing to do something genuinely new is an immense challenge, but when we came across Octahedron and its creator Marco Guardia, we knew that here was a game destined to be different,” says Phil Elliott, Director of Indie Publishing at Square Enix West. “It’s one of those games that has to be played to be believed. The juxtaposition of the game’s soundtrack tying in with the on screen action really engages players in a way few titles can manage.”
Guardia drew from his musical experience as part of the Swiss trance act Flitlicht to create the game. “The opportunity to bring together two of the things I love the most – games and music – is one I couldn’t resist,” he says.
You can get down with Octahedron today for $12.99 on Playstation 4, XBox One and PC.
