Star Wars Battlefront: Team Deathmatch Blast Mode Revealed
Electronic Arts and DICE have revealed a new Team Deathmatch mode for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront franchise reboot. The new gameplay mode is called Blast and will feature competitive battles of 10 versus 10. Per the announcement, the first team to reach 100 skills or is ahead on points at the end of the 10-minute round wins.
The addition of Blast Mode will likely be welcome news for fans and players, since an online, competitive team deathmatch mode will offer greater variety in gameplay for Battlefront. EA also promises that the levels for Blast Mode will have a great deal of variety.
Speaking on the news, Lead Level Designer Dennis Brannvall commented: “One battle you’ll be fighting within interior levels on Endor or Sullust. In the next battle, you might find yourselves among Tatooine’s dusty canyons, or inside the undeniably cool Ice Caves on Hoth. My favorite is the verticality of Tatooine, fighting by the Sandcrawler.”
The Blast maps will be smaller than the maps from other gameplay modes, so the action will stay more in close-quarters. All the Blast maps will be designed for the specific game mode in mind. In short, EA claims these will not be condensed, smaller versions of other existing other maps in the game, as many players typically see in competitive multiplayer. Each map is apparently uniquely designed for Blast mode.
Star Wars Battlefront arrives on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
