Star Wars Battlefront Will Have Dedicated Servers
If you were worried that Star Wars Battlefront will not have any dedicated serves, you can worry no longer. DICE has confirmed that the game will in fact use dedicated serves when it launches in November. Speaking to PlayStation Lifestyle, Star Wars Battlefront Lead Heroes Designer Jamie Keen made the confirmation in order to deliver “unparalleled online servers” for the Battlefront experience.
Some gamers were concerned that the game would not use dedicated servers when they heard that skill-based matchmaking was the route DICE was taking for the game. This made people think that dedicated servers would not be in play. According to Keen, “We’ll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely. It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalled online servers for the game.”
To be clear, the game will not use server browsers, but it will use dedicated servers. However, the game will not actually have a dedicated single-player campaign either. Star Wars Battlefront is set to hit the shelves on November 17. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The first DLC for the game, The Battle of Jakku, will launch on December 1 for players who pre-ordered the game and December 8 for everyone else. That’s just in time to get you warmed up for the upcoming new Star Wars sequel, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, which arrives on December 18.
