Star Wars Episode VIII Pushed Back to December
When to release a movie is almost as critical as making the movie itself. Studios want to capitalize on both a good market, the availability of moviegoers, and of course, the media marketing you have done. However, you’ll also want to ensure that everything is setup for your movie to succeed.
Disney has had a massive string of hits recently, from Star Wars, to the Marvel films, and even their own animated and live-action productions, they’ve done a lot. Today, they unveiled that the next numeric Star Wars film (Rogue One is an Anthology film), Star Wars Episode VIII, will be pushed back to December of 2017 instead of May 2017.
Originally, Episode VIII was going to come out in May, to what most fans believe was a symbolic gesture as that’s when the original films were released. However, it has been pushed back, likely to continue the trend that The Force Awakens and Rogue One have and will set. As The Force Awakens is a juggernaut and Rogue One is already highly anticipated.
There have been rumors though that Episode VIII is undergoing a rewrite of sorts with its script (via IGN). Claims state that certain characters aren’t given proper spotlight due to the new popularity of Rey, Poe, and Finn. Disney has denied this, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Star Wars Episode VIII will arrive on December 15th, 2017
