Star Wars: The Force Awakens 360 Experience on Facebook
As part of a 360 degree video initiative this week, Facebook has released a number of 360 degree videos in its official News Feed. This includes a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens: 360 degree video experience, which you can check out online at this link. The video was created by Disney and Lucasfilm and is based on the upcoming sequel.
The video gives players a first-person view on Rey’s speeder vehicle you might have seen in the earlier trailers. The bike is speeding across the desert of the planet Jakku from the film in an immersive 360-degree format. The special video was created using a special set of cameras, which are used to record all 360 degrees of a scene simultaneously. When the video is played, you can opt to play whatever angle you want to watch it from at any time of the video clip. You can do this on a web browser by dragging around the video with your cursor. It can also be done on mobile devices with a simple drag of the finger across the screen or even just by turning the device. You can attempt to hold up your phone and the 360 video will actually follow you as you turn and look around.
The video features some up close wreckage of an Imperial Star Destroyer that is littering the desert from the legendary Battle of Jakku. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens will arrive in theaters on December 18.
