Staying in the Loop with GTA V
In the year that’s passed since its October, 2011 announced existance, it’s been pretty easy to miss out on what little news has been offered up on the next Grand Theft Auto. Max Payne 3 cast a large shadow over the Rockstar Game’s newsfeed indeed. But in a blog post this week, Rockstar finally gave us a date, though vague, for the expected launch of the fifth game in the uber-popular GTA franchise. Despite the mayhem caused by Hurricane Sandy in New York, they’ve managed to send out the word that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players can expect to be speeding through the streets of “Vinewood” sometime in the spring of 2013.
Looking back, it’s somewhat surprising that we’ve received no new trailers since this first one launched in November last year.
Yet, even this early depiction shows what appear to be incredible detailed environments and sporting real polish. The West Coast setting follows in the footsteps of LA Noire, making us wonder if Rockstar has a mild fascination with LA at the moment. But it should be an interesting change from its New Yorkesque predecessor.
On a different note, a little over a week ago, Rockstar games posted their first piece of official game art, which would be that image featured at the head of the article, along with a promise.

However, you can expect these updates to be a bit delayed, thanks to that heartless shrew Mother Nature. On Thursday, in a comment to their release date announcement, Rockstar also posted:
We are working on a second trailer – unfortunately Hurricane Sandy has derailed our plans somewhat but we will have something to show soon. It’s hard to be precise as we have no power whatsoever in our New York office.
So, on that depressing note, here’s to hoping things on the East Coast get straightened out quickly and people stay safe. As for GTA V, keep an ear to the ground this November.
