Borderlands 2 was, and still is, an amazing game. The sequel to the surprise hit from Gearbox brought a lot of new players to the world of Pandora, and it’s a world that is filled with life, action, and Easter Eggs. But, one of the most interesting Easter Eggs in the game is an NPC called Michael Mamaril. You likely won’t know his name (barring you hearing it from other Borderlands 2 players), but his story is touching. Basically, there was a young man named Michael Mamaril, he and his friends loved playing Borderlands, and so when Michael died at the age of 22, a friend asked Gearbox for a eulogy done by a Borderlands character. But, they decided to up the ante as it were and not just do the Eulogy, but make Michael a part of the game itself. A truly stirring tribute from a company to a sadly departed gamer. While day one patches have been around this the launch of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the current generation of consoles seems to have taken the practice to the extreme. Almost every game that is released now sees a patch made available to download and Gearbox’s latest title, Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection, is not different. The remastering of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will require users to download a day one update if they want to remain online while playing the game. PlayStation 4 players will be asked to download an update that is just over 8GB while Xbox One users face a 16GB. Considering that co-operative play is such an integral part of the franchise’s experience, the majority of players will almost definitely want to download this rather large patch. The large size is put down to it containing not just bug fixes and performance enhancements but also several pieces of content that could not be placed on the disc. Take-Two Interactive has released a brand new trailer for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The video, which can be seen above, is entitled Last Hope and introduces several new characters to the series as well as the now-famous Claptrap. As part of the latest announcement, it was revealed that the game will take advantage of new PC hardware. Those using high-end graphics cards will be able to experience much higher fidelity and performance, unlike other games in the franchise. The publisher has also released two behind the scenes videos showing how the game has been made. Part 1 of the documentary and Part 2 are both available on YouTube. There will be additional episodes made available in the future according to Take-Two. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is the latest game in the Borderlands series. Yesterday, Gearbox Software released a three-minute video dedicated to Krieg, the Psycho character class coming to Borderlands 2 later this afternoon. Narrated by the quintessentially Victorian, monocle-wearing hunter Sir Hammerlock, it provides a meticulous overview of Krieg’s skills and abilities in a vibrant montage of axe throwing, fireball flinging, blood spilling… and brief footage of what we think is Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.

Not only did they release Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, a sizeable pirate-themed add-on for Borderlands 2, but they pushed out a title update addressing a long list of technical hiccups too.  But there’s one tiny detail missing from this exhaustive change register: the patch also installs three trophies for an unannounced expansion called ‘Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage’.

Her name’s Gaige, she describes herself as a “finder of loot, builder of robots, and shooter of faces!”  and has provided us with the first in-game image of her and robot bodyguard DeathTrap looking ‘badass’.
