Wii Emulator, Dolphin, Can Now Access Wii Shop Channel
Dolphin, widely considered the most reliable and functional emulator for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii consoles, has added support for the online Wii Shop Channel. This means it is now possible for those using the emulator to add points to their accounts just like on the console and buy games through the service. “Getting to the point where we could go shopping on Dolphin was a long and tumultuous one,” developer JMC47 explained. “We couldn’t even connect to the update servers a few weeks ago, and had little idea why.” While the emulation of the online shop isn’t completely perfect as of the time of writing, the team behind Dolphin are working to add 100% functionality over the coming weeks. However, users are likely to find that they can purchase and download games without any issues. It’s even possible for Wii account holders to get access to their games library with some tinkering.
