In these new Assassin’s Creed III screenshots, we get some detailed looks at the snowy environments that game will be sporting. With its seasonal changes, it appears that there will be winter and summer versions of practically every area of the game, which is pretty impressive. Furthermore, we get to see Connor hunting down what appears to be a deadly Templar Deer. Or not. Either way, the textures look quite nice and we’ll have to see how Ubisoft’s claim of “next gen visuals today” holds up when we inevitably get to see some actual gameplay as E3 draws nearer.
Details on Assassin’s Creed III’s inevitable special editions were leaked over the weekend by an online Italian retailer. Take a look below for more details. First we have the Freedom Edition, which looks to be the most decked out of the group and the most expensive. It includes a high quality 24cm tall figure of main character Connor. A steelbook case designed by award-winning comic artist Alex Ross (which you can also get with a pre-order). In yet another serendipitous info leak, Microsoft has gone and posted some new info on their Marketplace feature listing for Assassin’s Creed III. Before the info was speedily removed, Microsoft listed online co-op and multiplayer features for the latest entry in the series. Whether you’ll be able to play through the campaign with friends or not is entirely unknown at this point. Heck it could be limited to some sort of crazy horde mode for all we know. Also listed was 8 player multiplayer, most likely building off the sort of experiences we’ve been seeing in the previous two titles. For now, I’d classify all of this as a rumor, since the only real source on this is Microsoft. However, the possibilities are pretty damn exciting.
Just moments ago Ubisoft released the first ever trailer for Assassin’s Creed III. If what we’re hearing is true, most if this is actually in engine and not just a pre-rendered cutscene. It looks amazing so stop reading this and watch it!
This last few days has seen a flood of new details for Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed III, most of them leaked from Game Informer’s huge cover story. I’m extremely excited for this latest entry in what has become one of my favorite series in all of gaming. The details that follow are pretty much all we know about the game thus far. Assassin’s Creed III will feature a variety of environments that have never been utilized in past installments, and all of them will present unique gameplay and traversal. For example, climbing in forests and jumping from tree to tree as you stalk your prey from above. The game runs on a new version of the Anvil engine, allowing for a far greater number of characters on screen at one time, all while looking better than ever before. Apparently they were going for a “Nex-gen” look on current console hardware and feel that they have come pretty close to that goal. The new protagonist is the son of a mixed British
