Robots is a charming Sci-fi romantic comedy that will transport you to a futuristic world. This movie parallels Black Mirror episodes that have yet to exist. Set in a world where people have their own Android clones to run errands, it sheds light on our dependence on technology. It reflects how social media has influenced people to create a romantic version of themselves.
“Crater” explores one of the most attainable science fiction fantasies: colonizing the moon. The technology to make it happen is there, but the problem is that we don’t have the budget. Colonizing the moon will be humanity’s gateway to colonizing other heavenly bodies, from Mars to Jovian moons. Sadly, with all the wars going on and the Earth’s economy still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, a return to the moon is still an elusive dream. At least this movie will give us a glimpse of a far future and what life on the moon is like.
“The Ark,” a new science fiction adventure series from Syfy and Hulu, will premiere soon. It is directed by Dean Devlin, He is the producer, directed and writer of hits like Independence Day and Leverage. In our current time we don’t have the technology to do interstellar space travel yet. It is because we can’t make ships that runs in the speed of light yet. Even in our own Solar System, the space travel is too slow. It will take 6 months to two years to go to Mars. Jupiter’s moon, Callisto takes 15 years or even more of travel. Going to an extra solar planet will take centuries or even millennium because they are that far.
3D printers can do a number of things now…..it was only a matter of time before they started spitting out houses. ICON, an Austin-based startup, has figured out how to do just that. ICON claims their technology can print up a livable structure in just 24 hours, or even less, for a cost of just $10,000. A large Vulcan printer uses cement to construct the walls of the dwelling, which can then be snapped together along with windows and doors.
I remember reading a news story about a month ago that said there was a shortage of truck drivers now, mainly because the younger generation wasn’t showing any interest in such a career. It really isn’t any mystery why. We’ve been told for several years that self-driving cars are going to be a thing, so why would they invest any time or effort into a vocation that’s doomed?
