“Disney’s Gigantic” Has Been Cancelled
Until now, Disney’s movie schedule included an animated feature due out in 2020 called “Gigantic.” It would’ve been a new take on Jack and the Beanstalk that had Jack encountering a female giant. You’ll have to decide what happened from there, because after years of development, it won’t see the light of day. Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios president Ed Catmull said the decision was made due to story concerns…something about the movie wasn’t clicking right, and the problem was evidently insurmountable. “It’s impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn’t working.” If the film wasn’t performing, it wasn’t due to lack of talent. Disney hired Inside Out co-writer Meg LeFauve and Nathan Greno (who also wrote Tangled) to direct, and Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez were crafting the tunes.
