At Long Last, Rockstar Officially Confirms GTA 6 Is Coming
GTA V has served as the “newest” Grand Theft Auto for a full decade now. Putting that in perspective, when it came out Obama was not only still president, he had a good three years left to serve. On the day of its release, it was possible to rent it from Blockbuster in some locations. What happened and how did we get here? What happened was Rockstar Games found a way to turn GTA V into a perpetual money-making machine. GTA Online was introduced not long after the GTA V base game, and by charging fees and keeping it steadily updated, the financial need for a new game was eliminated. So they didn’t start work on GTA 6 — they just kept re-releasing GTA V. It now exists across three generations of game consoles and, more by consequence than anything, ranks as one of the biggest-selling video games ever.
