Amazon Has an Exclusive Nintendo 3DS XL

While Nintendo has been dominating the headlines this week with the reveal of the new Nintendo Switch console, another special exclusive Nintendo 3DS item has popped up online this week. Amazon is now selling a special exclusive Nintendo New 3DS XL Special Edition Lime Green. Game Informer reports that this new edition of the 3DS XL is available only at Amazon. It’s priced at $199. But what’s special about this version is that it’s packed in with a pre-installed version of Super Mario World Virtual Console game. So right off the bat, 3DS owners get a new unique color for the 3DS XL with a great game to go along with it. By comparison, the recently released Nintendo New 3DS XL Galaxy style portable console did not actually come with a pre-installed game. So, this is arguably a much better deal. Unfortunately, the game is not packed with an AC adapter, which is sold separately. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Footage Released

Some new footage for Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice has found its way online in a new livestream by Sega (via Siliconcera). You can check out the video in the player below. The new game features Sonic the Hedgehog and his pals, who have to stop Dr. Eggman and an evil robot named D-Fekt from destroying the environment. Based on the new footage, players can switch between playing as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sticks and also Amy in order to progress their way through different levels. In addition, it looks like it will be a complete 2D action-adventure platform gameplay experience. Besides some 3D-rendered graphics, it doesn’t appear that there’s any 3D gameplay here. Still the gameplay footage looks like a nice traditional throwback to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games and style from the early 1990s. Hopefully, the overall look of this game will bode well for the future of the franchise. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a Nintendo 3DS release. It hits shelves on September 27 in North America.

Nintendo and the Pokemon Company have released a video that has shown off many new details about the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon games. First up, the games will release on November 18th of this year, so the wait will not have to be as long as many thought. Second, the new region will called Alola. And from the reveal video, it appears to the Pokemon version of Hawaii, or a tropical paradise. Even one of the characters note that the region is “paradise”. Also seen in the video is the detail and graphical improvement. Models seem even more detailed that X & Y, which was very impressive when it released. Finally, we got to see 5 new Pokemon in the trailer. Three of which were named. Your starting Pokemon are Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio. In a chat with Game Informer, Bravely Default Co-Producer Masashi Takahashi talked about the second game in the series, End Layer, and revealed how the game was massively improved via a strenuous Q&A process, as well as getting feedback from fans: “Based upon this feedback, we put together a survey to collect user opinions on 100 proposed improvements. Despite the sheer number of questions, a great many players took the time to answer. In the end, we were proud to implement 80 of these improvements (with seven proving too difficult to address, and another 13 deemed better as is). They were reflected for the international release of Bravely Default, and now in Bravely Second. They range from extremely fine details, like skippable logos when starting the game, to now-standard features, like the auto-advance mode for cutscenes. There has been a lot of buzz and anticipation concerning the next Nintendo platform, the NX. Which is interesting given we know little to nothing about it. Nintendo is a lot of things, one that many think is a negative is that they can be really rigid in their beliefs. One such belief was that they would never “have the need” to do mobile gaming, as their handhelds have been mega hits every single time along with consoles. However, this all changed when Nintendo partnered up with DeNA to kickstart a new mobile game initiative. So why the change of heart? Nintendo is officially beginning their trek to mobile devices! Or at least for their games anyway. Nintendo has announced that their incredibly popular Pokemon Shuffle game will be coming to mobile devices. In case you don’t know how shuffle plays, you play “By matching three or more Pokémon, players can deal damage and whittle down their opponents. Fans can even battle through difficult stages by using Mega-Evolved Pokémon.” Much like in regular Pokemon games, you’ll be able to get more and more Pokemon to battle with, and types and advantages still apply, making this a very deep mobile game, no matter where you play it. In fact, Pokemon Shuffle has already been download over 4.5 million times, so no doubt Nintendo sees an opportunity to widen its range by bringing it to mobile devices.
