Pillars of Eternity 2 Post-Launch DLC Detailed

Pillars of Eternity 2 is set to launch on May 8 but developer Obsidian Entertainment have already revealed their plans for the game post-launch. In a blog post on their official site, the team went into detail about the expansions that will be coming to the title as well as what players can expect from future DLC. Obsidian stated that they plan on releasing “three exciting, in-depth expansion packs for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. The expansion packs will include new quests that will add to the lore of the Deadfire, new areas to discover, new secrets to reveal, and a whole host of new characters to meet and challenges to overcome!” The first expansion, entitled Beast Of Winter, will arrive in July and see players encountering a doomsday cult. The second pack should release in September. Seeker, Slayer, Survivor, will challenge players with a strong focus on combat. Meanwhile, the last DLC is The Forgotten Sanctum. Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire now has a publisher. The developer has announced that the sequel to their 2015 hit RPG will be distributed by Versus Evil, who are perhaps best known for publishing The Banner Saga series. The news is slightly surprising considering that Paradox Interactive recently handled publishing duties for the first game when it released on home consoles.  “We are thrilled to be working with the team at Versus Evil on Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, the first sequel we’ve ever made into one of our own IPs,” said Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart. There’s also still no announcement about an exact release date other than that the team are working towards an early 2018 launch. It is currently unknown whether the title will also make it onto the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will likely depend on how successful the release of its predecessor was on these platforms.
