As Kingdom Hearts 3 inches closer, More urgently, the Tokyo Game Show is just around the bend, and Square needs a showstopper to grab everyone’s attention. Thus…the Kingdom Hearts Playstation VR Experience. This interactive VR ride lasts ten minutes and takes players on a whirlwind tour through the history of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, revisiting familiar locales in first-person. Interactivity will be minimal, but you will get the chance to bop a few Heartless with your Keyblade. One thing Square’s press release doesn’t clarify is if the Kingdom Hearts Playstation VR Experience is downloadable content anyone with a PS VR can play, or if it’s a free ride localized to the Tokyo Game Show only. The Rick and Morty virtual reality game is now available on Sony’s PlayStation VR. The title, which has previously been exclusive to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, sees players take on the role of a clone Morty as they carry out the bidding of the whacky scientist Rick Sanchez. Fans of the show can also get their hands on a physical edition of the title. It comes in two distinct forms, a $30 standard edition and a $50 collector’s edition. Teh more expensive version includes a double-sided poster, a comic-book that ties in with the game, and a Funko pop figure.

The legend goes that in the heyday of arcades, a mysterious cabinet called Polybius was tested in Portland, OR. It made many people who played it ill, and men in black suits were seen collecting data from it before it disappeared. As someone who lives in Portland, I’m rather skeptical….there was parental paranoia about arcades back then, and when you combine this with our local overactive media, a game that fried people’s minds would have blanketed the news for weeks. If it had happened, we would have known! Polybius has made cameo appearances in movies and TV shows, like The Simpsons (above). A Polybius machine was originally in the opening sequence of Wreck-It Ralph (it can be seen in the trailer, but is replaced in the final movie). And there have been attempts to make the game itself, but none quite as bold as Jeff Minter’s. He’s going to SELL a game called Polybius, as one of the first titles available for the Playstation VR. Some recent evidence has surfaced online suggesting that Resident Evil 7’s VR experience for PlayStation VR might only be a timed exclusive experience for one year. Recently, a Reddit user noticed an ad on Facebook noting the exclusivity period for the VR version of Resident Evil 7. The ad reads, “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard coming in 2017 and exclusive to PlayStationVR for 12 months.” Capcom then commented on the the news to PC Gamer, claiming that no other VR formats for the game have been confirmed as of yet. The Capcom rep stated, “Resident Evil 7 Biohazard will be available for PlayStation VR at launch on 24th January, 2017. Capcom has not confirmed any other VR formats at this time.” Currently, Resident Evil 7 is set for a PC and console release later this January. However, it seems the only way to get the virtual reality experience for the game is with the PlayStation VR headset. So it seems PlayStation Move controllers are not quite obsolete just yet. In fact, the Move controllers are going to be the main controllers for the new PlayStation VR hardware. And it seems there could be a potential option for gamers who want a VR headset to get some new move wand controllers as a twin pack. Games Radar reports that an Australian retail listing for EB Games shows an option for gamers to buy the PlayStation VR – Move Controller Twin Pack. The Twin Pack has a release date of October 13, which happens to be the same date as the launch of the headset. Gamers will need the Move controllers to play games and experiences for the headset, so this could help them get some additional ones to use for things such as Batman: Arkham VR. Plus, these are the required accessories used for the VR as well. The site lists the twin pack as $119.95 in Australian dollars. That comes out to be about $90 in United States. It’s unknown

Virtual reality looks set to be the future of gaming, however new details released by Sony about the PlayStation VR reveal that you’ll need plenty of space to let it work effectively. According to new documentation released by the company, the headset will require around 60 square feet of cleared space to work effectively- otherwise the experience will be somewhat compromised. The device will also require plenty of height room, though this is adjustable in relation to how high the accompanying PlayStation Camera is placed. Sony also advises players to sit down as much as possible while playing, unless a game requires the user to stand up. “Limit your use of PS VR to within the Play Area,” according to the brochure. “Clear an area larger than the Play Area of all obstacles before using PS VR and remain seated whenever possible. Sony Computer Entertainment has officially announced the released period and price point for the upcoming PlayStation VR hardware. The upcoming dedicated VR headset for the PlayStation 4 is set to launch in October in Japan, North America, Europe and Asia. The suggested retail price for the hardware is $399 USD/$399 CAD. Speaking on the announcement SCE President and Global CEO Andrew House stated: “Ever since we unveiled PS VR during the 2014 Game Developers Conference, we’ve received a tremendous response from gamers and developers alike. To make sure that we are able to prepare and deliver enough units of PS VR and a wide variety of software titles to consumers worldwide, we have decided to launch PS VR in October 2016.
