News: Playstation Vita Price Drop
Sony announced today, during its Gamescom 2013 media briefing, that the company’s struggling handheld will in fact be receiving a price cut. The new price was announced at $199/€199, and it is yet unclear which of the two PS Vita models (3G or wifi) this price point refers to. In addition, Sony has said that the system’s proprietary memory cards will see a drop in price, but no further details were immediately available. This news comes as a surprise to few, as Amazon, Best Buy and Target all have Sony’s handheld selling at the $199 price point this week. In addition, a similar price cut appeared in the Japanese market earlier this month. The new price is set to take effect tomorrow, August 21, 2013.
