Lets just start out this review by saying that Prototype 2 is a near perfect sequel. For the life of me I can’t think of anything that the sequel doesn’t do better than the original title. So without further ado, lets dig into Prototype 2.
Seems that Prototype 2 made its way over on the PlayStation store today.
The first ever live action, 18+ advertisement premiered in UK this week for the upcoming Prototype sequel. Here’s the official video of the event.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be more excited for Prototype 2 they go and release a trailer that tells me I can control my own pack of huge, angry, mutated puppies. Yes, I know they aren’t actually puppies, but they just look so cute destroying everything, throwing cars at helicopters and then exploding into a mass of horrifying tentacles that annihilate my enemies. That’s what puppies do…right? httpv://youtu.be/-pC9kjuwe4U
So…wow, this is pretty cool. In this trailer you get to see a nice chunk of James Heller’s backstory; mainly how he came home to find his life in ruins and was subsequently infected by former protagonist anti-hero Alex Mercer. It’s also got a pretty good song choice with Johnny Cash’s famous rendition of Hurt, though I can’t help but feel that Trent Reznor’s original version of the track would have gone better with the style and tone of the game itself. Anyways, it’s pretty goddamn awesome, so take a look.
It looks like the fine folks at Radical are going for a bit of a theme here with their latest trailers. To go along with an earlier trailer that focused on how you can rip weapons off of tanks and helicopters in Prototype 2, we also now have a showcase of weapons being used on virus infected birds, and videos of the improved claws and hammerfist in action. Sadly, while we can see plenty of prosterirors being shot, crushed, sliced, stabbed and exploded, we don’t really see any ass actually being “kicked”. I guess their’s always room for that in the next trailer though! httpv://youtu.be/RJmrH7qrCt8 httpv://youtu.be/ImVV–pM0Lc httpv://youtu.be/9tQdsLpKClI
In a new trailer from Activision and Radical Entertainment, we get to see more of new protagonist James Heller and his ability to rip weapons off vehicles for his own personal use. It’s an interesting idea, giving you the option to just yank a chain gun off the top of tank if you’d like a little extra firepower without jumping inside and slowing yourself down. We’ll have to see how well the mechanic works on April 24th when Prototype 2 hits store shelves. httpv://youtu.be/XyXEHNsjvGg
And here I thought that Alex Mercrer and James Heller were two badass characters. After watching this totally legit and not April Foolsy at all trailer, all I think about is how badly I hope we can use this model in the game as a cheat or something down the line. Either way, this is probably my most anticipated game of the month by far. Can’t wait. httpv://youtu.be/tzQNraD0cTM
